Goal

Because I desire to help people read and retain biblical Hebrew efficiently and effectively…

• I will develop a phonetic warm-up and language lesson plan that applies current language acquisition practices to the academic instruction of biblical Hebrew.

Strategies

I will design:

• A phonetic warm-up system that will help students learn to read the Hebrew vowels and consonants.

• Language learning lessons to teach biblical Hebrew morphology based on language acquisition practices.

Resources

• I will consult: “Advances in the Study of Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic” by B. J. Noonan, Chapter 10: “Teaching and Learning the Languages of the Hebrew Bible”.

• I will consult my mentor Dr. Chisholm, and my advisor Dr. Coover-Cox, seeking their input in this project.

Measures

By the end of November 2022, I will have:

• Developed a phonetic warm-up system to help students learn the Hebrew consonants and vowels.

• Develop a lesson plan to help students learn basic Hebrew morphology.

By the end of April 2023, I will have:

• Tested my phonetic warm-up system and Hebrew morphology lesson plan on a small group of students from my congregation.
