Leadership

 Part Two

Reflection Statement

For my competence in leadership, I am submitting a lesson plan for Hebrew phonetic warm up which demonstrates that having Hebrew students learn to read first and then teaching them the grammar of the Hebrew Aleph Bet after they know the sounds creates greater affective attachment with the language, greater comprehension and more effective retention. This is modeled in the lessons developed and linked below and demonstrated in the lesson videos. In the videos we have testimonials of the effectiveness of the method, as students demonstrate the affective connection they are forming with the biblical text and the Hebrew language.

Learning Reflection

As I developed and demonstrated leadership, I gained experience in writing curriculum for Hebrew language learning, both for learning how to read and for learning grammar. I have also learned how to develop practical materials to enhance the learning experience by developing a set of web pages for my lessons at Quizlet.com. In these pages students can learn, practice, quiz themselves and play games with the Hebrew Aleph Bet, vocabulary and grammatical concepts. This is designed to help students learn to read before learning the rules for reading, learn vocabulary without rote memorization by with games, picture association and hearing.

Lifelong Development Statement

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in communication by receiving feedback upon implementation of my Hebrew lessons regarding their impact in helping students learn Hebrew effective and efficiently. I also plan to continue to submit my work to experienced Hebrew professors for their critique and feedback to help me improve. I will seek to write about my findings on the philosophical and methodological foundation I have developed in professional journals relevant to the field. I also will attend professional conferences for Hebrew professors and present my ideas, materials and experiences.
